The Great Shift is coming.... are you ready to jump? Fast forward to the year 2242--a world in which death, disease, war and famine have been conquered, and where everything, including humans, are devices on Neuro, a complex network operating system that is controlled via human thought. Adam Winter has lived for nearly two hundred years in an eHuman body--a man of metal, fiber optics and plastic, on a world where no one dies and no one is born. Paradise on earth--until Adam discovers that the World Government is cutting power to entire cities, and his own city is on the list! Trapped in a body that must recharge on the network, Adam is swept up into the underworld of an eHuman anti World Government resistance, led by Dawn, the very first eHuman created. While the Resistance wages war against those in power, Dawn reveals to Adam a shocking secret about their past that not only bonds them together, but is also the Resistance’s ticket to gaining control over Neuro and taking down the World Government once and for all. Caught between the past and the future, Adam must rise up, claim his inheritance, and face his destiny-- before eHumanity is powered down, forever.

I purchased Nicole Sallak Anderson's eHuman Dawn based on the review of an Amazon Vine Program reviewer and am glad I did. While it is not a genre that I am normally attracted to, I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining futuristic tale written by a computer science graduate.

This gripping tale is set in the year 2242 in an age where technology, world government and life as we know it is on an entirely different level. Some two hundred years earlier, mankind invented a method of capturing the essence of humanity and uploaded individuals into nearly invincible esthetically perfect manmade bodies making individuals nearly immortal. The great shift has taken place and people no longer have the need to eat and drink. Disease and physical ailment is a thing of the past.

The catch is that once uploaded the individuals memories and identity of their past lives is erased and they need to be recharged every other day on a global network that monitors thoughts during the process.

As the story unfolds, we learn that some, including a dozen or so world leaders have retained their identities with one ruthless sociopathic dictator controlling all of humanity through his secure worldwide power grid.

Dawn, the first ehuman has formed a growing resistance group over the ages that has found a way to avoid the power grid and is bent on freeing mankind from the dictators influence.

This captivating 266-page tale is an entertaining quick and believable story that incorporates human greed, motivation and manipulation in this thrilling adventure.

If you are looking for an imaginative well-written tale that will entertain you at the onset through the last page, THIS IS IT!

Enjoy!

eHuman Dawn Nicole Sallak Anderson 9780989715485 Books Reviews

What would mankind look like if we were able to live forever due to technology? In eHuman Dawn, many aspects of this question are addressed. The government is now controlling the eHuman race as it is entirely reliant on power from the government to survive. Free thinking, love, and memories have all been erased. Dawn, the first eHuman created, starts up a resistance to regain control of those very things we all hold dear. The book is fast paced and well explained. For those readers who feel like a technology driven book would be a hard read, do not be afraid to read this one. The story line is thought provoking and the technology aspect is explained in such a way that it is easy to understand. In the mix of these thought provoking ideas, is love as well. Romantic love, love of family and love for each other as humans makes this book a must read. I am looking forward to the next book!
Very intriguing book. Kept my attention the whole way through and I liked the characters. Was hoping for more of a climatic ending, and almost think there needs to be a 2nd book, but overall very enjoyable and interesting story! Made me think that this could really happen in future, although I hope not!
Not my genre. Story was okay but I couldn't get into the characters. Really why would you want to be a machine.
Excellent writing, a lot of Sci-Fi gets bogged down in the creation of the mythology, but this isn't over-complicated or difficult to follow. I read a LOT of sci-fi and so called high fantasy, so I have no problem with it, but it's refreshing to have one that doesn't over complicate things. Excellent writing, great mythology, fun to read.
This book showed a different form of human robots & it was written with great detail, letting us understand how they were in life. The characters all had very interesting plots & were easy to like. Nicole's writing has a great flow, making it hard to put down. I can't wait to read book 2 in the series.
For some reason, this book just didn't draw me in as much as I like. I was curious about how it ended so I read the whole thing, but I really didn't care much about the characters or the story. Lots of things were not explained. Relationships were very weird.
A thought-provoking read that stimulates questions not addressed yet in this first volume of Anderson's series how much of our emotional life and human consciousness is limited by and defined by complex bio-feedback loops that we are only beginning to understand? What would it mean for our consciousness to leap into an inorganic form that mimics our biology? What transformations would occur? What psychological/emotional reactions would result?

Anderson tells a good story within the framework of the sci-fi genre. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
